We have a variation of coloured glass designs to choose from, for both doors & windows.
Here at Art Glass we also specialize in a range of fired enameled & etched glass, these enameled colours consist of
amber, blue, red and green, amongst the etched glass.
A unique process which we have found to become rather popular amongst our customers.
Please be aware any of the fired enamel colour should only be used internally if single glazed,unless the single glazing is covered by a canopy or you have them double glazed for exterior use! Like any enamel, if you are using externally please make sure the enamel is facing internally with otherwise the glass will become stained via acid rain/weather.
Coloured Druids Cross
The pictures on this page show the Victorian style Druids Cross designs with
amber, blue, green and red fired glass enamel applied.
The druids cross with colour should only be used internally if single glazed,
unless the single glazing is covered by a canopy or you have them double glazed for exterior use!
Like any enamel, if you are using externally please make sure the enamel is facing internally with otherwise the glass will become stained via acid rain/weather.
These designs are supplied etched on one side and the enamel on the opposite side.
All etched glass can be toughened to comply with current safety regulations,
also the etched glass maybe made into double glazed units.
Etched glass transmits light it can even make the darkest of rooms look bright,

The fired enamel coloured druids cross is made in 1220x1070mm stock sheets, if your sizes exceed this we will not be able to supply this design.

Brilliant Cut Corners- Brilliant cutting is a extraordinary skilled and artistic process, an age-old process passed down through many generations via apprenticeships. The process creates designs on glass and mirror and is all done by hand. These unique brilliant cut corners are all individually hand made out of flashed glass using Victorian traditional methods. Often seen as corners in Victorian sash windows and doors.

Border Panels
Enamel Borders- Plain colour is screen printed onto the glass leaving the glass see through but coloured, you can also have the P10 design inlaid into the glass leaving the design clear and see through.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fired Enamel Glass
Natural Glass Properties
We create our coloured glass range by using enamels and firing them in a kiln, which is a method that has been used for generations, since the 18th century.
As you can see by the image, the fired enamel glass does hold some seeds (otherwise referred to as bubbles), which few customers identify as "imperfections" this is very much untrue.
This property is part of the panels character, and is not an imperfection, which helps bring out the antique characteristics of the glass, as this is still used making traditional techniques, but as you can see from the photo it's only norciable when you're eye to eye with the glass, and will not be noticable when the glass it fitted and stood back.
Red Fired Enamel Natural PropertiesOur red fired enamel has a chemical makeup with includes gold, due to this gold when the glass is laid flat enamel side facing down, it will almost look like a dark purple/blue.
This does concern very few customers when first opening their parcels, but once picking up and holding the glass, (as you can see from the image to the left) it is infact a vibrate deep red.
Again this is not a default of the glass, but a natutal property, you would see this in any church window where Vitreous enamels are used.
The difference between flashed glass & fired enamel?
We have noticed that customers think our fired enamel glass will match up with orginal panels they already have in their home, though it is sometimes the case that the customer has an entirley different glass, that glass being Flashed Glass.

Victorian Flashed GlassDo you have a similair style glass as the photo to the left displays in your home? This is flashed glass with a design etched onto it.
Over the decades these have come in a multitude of designs, and shapes, and over our years here at Art Glass, we have remade a lot of them, they also come as brilliant cut glass page.
All these pieces are price on application, so in order to cost please send any glazing sizes, along with photos of the glass that is need of replacing.
